I've got an 04 ex-120,000 miles, only thing done to it is intake and no cat or muffler-straight pipe all the way.....the sound from the exhaust is just awsome, I'm sure fixxer has heard some pretty crazy ones as well
Also have a 95 f350 7.3 litre with 250,000 miles works awsome as well

if you get a 6.0 any year you need to make it bullet proof all 6.0s have head gasket problems , egr and oil cooler problems they are know for them to fail to bullet proof it get arp head studs and delete egr and a bullet oil cooler
i own a 05 6.0 and and its bullet proof and now i am comfortable to drive it anywhere and tow anything
thats just my two cents and just tryin to help out

Fixxxer,
This is something I have been wondering for a while about the 6.0 Fords. My sister and brother in law had a 06 F350 dually that they bought with about 50k miles on it. Bone stock, and they used it to tow all the time. That is what they were doing for a living at the time.
They had no problems until about 105K them from there on out it was down hill. They gave the truck up a year latter at 195K because they had spent over $10k in repairs, not counting the usual maintenance parts.
I don’t know all the failures but do know they had a couple of EGR problems and a ton of injector problems. As for who there tech was, it was whatever ford dealer was close to where they broke down at, all over the country.
They will never own another one, that said they never had a transmission problem, and only went through one alternator.
Is some of these 6.0’s just lemons? Again this was as stock of a truck as you can get and my brother is very strict on his maintenance.
I also know of friends that have had the head gasket issues but I don’t know if they had tuners on them, in my mind if you put tuners and such on it you really can’t blame ford. They can’t design for what the aftermarket will do.

32skater How many mpg do you get? Did you have any problems before doing all that stuff? How much did it cost to have those three things done? I am in Ohio too, where do you boat at?

I have done the ARP Head Studs and the egr delete. The parts run around $850 and I had the work done at the dealer under warranty. The egr delete was back doored to the mechanic (illegal due to emissions). Ford will put the studs in under warranty if under 5yr 100k miles. Otherwise i want to say it would be around $2500 in labor. I see around 19 mpg hwy unloaded, and 14-15mpg city. Towing my 27 fountain I get 14 hwy. I love the truck with the studs and egr delete and the sct tuner, runs awesome. I have around 30k miles on it since the studs and no problems.

A great site with tons of info is http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php.
If you have the VIN see if you can get a Ford Oasis Report on the truck. It will show all mtce done. The 2011 6.7L is a nice machine. Seems Ford got it very right with this new engine. Could it be in your cards
Be very skeptical on any used diesel from anyone. When you combine the fact there are some models with more issues than others and the fact a previous owner could have tuned the heck out of it you dont want to end up with an expensive repair tab. Routine Maintenance is so much more important than a gasser getting service records is a must have.
Good luck.

Fixxer already ran an oasis report for me and the truck was clean. I have also seen the carfax on it and it is good. The truck has 42000 on it with no reported problems. I cant decide what to do, I am half scared of it but I love the truck.
