It's not extra, I put this tank in to replace the saddle tanks. The frame tank is 35 gallons. The saddle tanks were 18 gallons each so I am a bit short but I did this for three main reasons...
1. Both saddle tanks were leaking a bit
2. The saddle tanks were dangerous because of them being on the outside of the frame rails
3. Simplification - was able to get rid of the switching system that was needed to switch between the two tanks

The engine is already done, these pictures all from last year when I was doing the work. The engine got a towing cam, high volume oil pump, new intake, some dess up parts and fresh paint.
For 100,000 miles the engine looked brand new inside, I think the guy babied the hell out of it!
