Ford's Super Duty official webpage was updated today with the new HP and Torque figures for the 2015 models. Ford rates the updated engine with new turbo at 440Hp and 860Ft lbs Torque!

I would have guessed 410-420Hp but 440Hp is incredible, Dodge and GM have their work cut out now.

When is the HP/torque enough? I realize its fashionable and big aftermarket money to bump HP, mainly because it is so easy (relatively) with a diesel but really.....
Who that has a diesel from the past 6 years can really say what came stock at the 360hp700 ft lb level was not more than enough to tow anything that can safely be put behind it?

Talking out of the other side of my mouth and being a Duramax owner currently. I don't see any problem with the current Duramax platform if GM wants to go toe to toe. Duramax is a proven motor, currently good well into 500 hp with the limiting factor being the Allison which is an easy modification to continue the HP wars.

Personally, I would be much more impressed with a 3-5mpg increase then 50 more hp.
If Ford is really the work truck leader, I would think most business owners would be more interested in lower cost of operation than a stock drag truck?

BTW Ford, its 2015 and new platform is rolled out - when are they going to start using the SAE tow standard agreed to years ago???

+1 I have a '08 Duramax and the thing is a stump puller. Would it really make a big difference if I had 850 lb-ft of torque vs. 660? I drive like an old lady normally and when pulling my boat, It's a breeze. So IMO, these hp/torque wars are just marketing ploys. OK, I'm King of the Hill!

Hp and Torque are great but fords customer service or should I say lack of is what is there bigest problem. After years of same old problems with failed motors and half ass fixes they need to invest in what people realy care about. That is being able to use the truck for what it was intended for without countless run arounds with dealers and warranty issues. Ford blew it with thousnads of loyal customers over the past 10 years and they could invent a bullet proof motor and put it in a truck equiped with evey option out there but they wont ever see another dime from me!!!! And there are lots of other people that feel the same way. My years of loyality for ford ended when they stuck that $50,000 dually up my ass last year!!!
AND FYI that was my 13th ford truck and that isnt counting all the ford cars>

I believe Ford just announced they would start that measurement with the new F-150, which I assume() means the new HD will use it as well.
