Towing with a chevy 2500hd 6.0 3.73 gears
Hello All,
Im in the market for a boat and my big concern is towing it. My truck is a Chevy 2500hd with 3.73 gears so its rated at 9400lbs. Id love to get a late model baja outlaw 29 with twin 454's. You think this would be too much boat for my truck. Sucks having a 3/4 ton and such low towing weight! My main concerns is being leagal.
Thanks in advance!

Not sure on legality but I towed a 42' triple 525 fountain from loto to New Hampshire without any issue or drama with a 2500 and a 6.0

I tow with my 2500 HD w/duramax all the time! Just got back from LOTO last weekend (500 miles round trip) and had no problems whatsoever, pulling a 32 ft PIG! Trailer tires are a different story. Had a blowout on the right front cruising I-44 and it scared the SH$% out out me! Truck handled it fine. Those truckers on that freeway are brutal!

For several years I hauled around a Formula 312 (just a tad bigger than at 29 Baja but heavier) with a 2500 6.0/3.73 Suburban. Basically the same truck you have except it wasn't on the "HD" chassis. It did fine just be careful as you would when hauling anything. I later bought a 382 and that truck was a handful.....bought a dually 6 week later!

Thanks Alot guys. Just signing the papers on my first performance boat, survey came back good and Im pumped! 2000 Baja OL 29 with 7.4 mpi's. I dont know why the 2500HD's with 3.73 have such lower ratings then the one with the 4.10's. Its 9400 lbs vs. 13,600 lbs. Seems crazy.

I have a 2003 2500HD with the 6.0 and 4.10 gear. Towing the car in the trailer approx. 8200#'s it would want to downshift on some hills here in Fl. (yes there are hills) I put the Banks cold air intake on it and won't downshift anymore but haven't found an exhaust I like yet. A notable change in fuel mileage too. Just so you know
