Anyone have input on the ford 3.5 turbo ecoboost engines in the 150 and expedition?
My brother is looking at possibly purchasing a used 2015 expedition. It has the 3.5 ecoboost engine. Pretty sure it's the same motor as in the f150. Any idea if 87 octane is ok or does ford recommend higher octane. Also is that the first year for that motor? Anyone have a lot of miles and any input? It will probably never tow anything and just be a "mommy mobile" and do a ton of around town driving

I had a 2012 EB F150 and ran 87 in it 90% of the time. The ECM will compensate for the lower octane level and I never had any issues over 100k miles. I will say that with 93, it would get about 2 mpg better on fuel mileage...

Good engines, we are starting to see a few with timing chain and phaser issues.I drove an eco-boost expedition down to Florida last year from Indianapolis and the total trip mPG was 17.8.
