I think when you lightly pump the pedal it unlocks the torque convertor. Gives you about 300 RPM and a little extra pull.

Actually, the torque converters are PWM, not like the old style, where they looked at the brake pedal and they were either on or off, there's always some kind of percentage of slipping going unless wot

I too am looking, for a new vehicle. I have a 2013 Yukon XL with about 160, 000 miles. Besides an everyday driver, I haul my 29 foot Velocity VR 1. I also transport two or three Irish Wolfhounds to dog shows Vet etc. A Suburban oy Yukon XL sized vehicle is ideal for me. Trying to decide if I want the Duramax Diesel. Does anyone have experience with a Yukon or Burban with the Duramax.

The 6.2 gas is actually rated at more HP, 420 vs 401, with only a couple fewer ft/lb of torque.
Just sayin’…
Thanks. Brad.

I just got a 2024 Silverado HD with the 6.6 gas/Allison 10 spd. I haven't towed with it yet but so far I'm very happy. I'm coming from 2 previous Duramax trucks. The Allison is very smooth and the the engine is plenty peppy. I got the Z71 Sport package with the LT trim. Very comfortable truck. It comes with 34" tall tires (275 65 R20). It feels bigger than my 2016 did. It has the snow plow prep package which makes it a bit more stiff than my previous truck. But not too bad. Parked next to my buddies 1500, mine towers over his.

My next personal truck will be a 2500 6.6gas/10spd. The downsides to owning a 3/4 truck have become nil for my use
