Velocity 390 - What do you think
Velocity guys. I've always had Formulas and I love them. But, I am open to switching brands My 357 is for sale now and I happened to see this 390.
What are your opinions of this boat or the 390 in general. The ad says that it hits 90 mph with 2 500s. Is that possible - even if it is a lighter Poker Run model that seems high.
Thanks,
Brent

Seems cheap compared to others on the market. Have to wonder why ?
Don't have any knowledge on this particular boat though, just be careful.
I thought mid 80's with 500's, or so the magazines say. Might be in the market for a 39 or 41 myself one of these years.

Thanks - I agree. I have also never been on a Velocity. I'm wondering abou the quality as it compares to the Formulas I'm used to.

I've only had older Formulas. They're tanks. Mine 357 is an '85.

I love the boat but am ready for something newer.
Too bad about your friend's 353. I know of a couple of other peolple with 353s and have not heard of the problems. I don't have any experience with Velocities but I like what I see and read.

A friend down here in Fl. has an 01 390 with built bulldogs bravo xr drives and has spent more money than God on it,,a couple of weeks ago he was saying that all he saw on gps was 87mph...the boat new with the bulldogs and stock bravo 1's would run 81.

That sounds more reasonable. I have seen some impressive numbers for these things. But, 90mph with 500s is hard to believe. They're straight vees (which I like) so the only thing I can think is that they must be light weight for their size, are running high x dimensions and the hulls work.
I really like the looks of the 390s. It's definitely a candidate for the next boat.
Thanks to all of you for the input.
