BTW, I'm running (was) a 26 pitch hydro. What does everyone recommend for this boat. I have the 454 mag, i believe 365hp. I seem to turn between 4600 and 4800 depending on my load. should I try a 24? A bravo 1 four blade? Or am I already using the optimum prop?

c29 I have a 25" hydro if you want to try it.

I run a 26" bravo (1.36:1 gears). While everyone says the Hydro is faster, I prefer the bravo. Better grip, no ventilation and I picked up about 7 mph at cruise. I didn't loose any top end...83 on the button.

let me know if you want me to bring it. All i need is 1 million dollars as a deposite or a maybe a beer..

holy sh!t I replied before I saw the pic.

NICE....I love it when they open the dam.

If it's an insurance claim I'm asking $2000.00 for the hydro

vicious,
What power did you have when you were running the 25" hydro? Are you thinking of selling it? Also, when you switched over to the bravo, did you go the same pitch and diameter?

As far as first one there goes....I probably have the slowest or one of the slowest boats that will be on the run. However, I have the distinct advantage of not having a rev limiter on board. i.e. wife.

Sorry to hear about the hydro.
Here's the props I tried when I had the boat.

24 pitch Bravo 4 blade: A waste of time, 58-60 mph tops, but nice holeshot.

26 pitch bravo 4 blade: Always hooks up getting on plane, higher mid-range cruise speed over the hydro, maybe 1-2 mph slower on top, handles well but carries the boat differently & seems to give a much harsher ride in the rough.

26 pitch Hydromotive 4 blade: the boat came with the 26 Hydro, In rough seas or with a lot of people on board it can blow out trying to get on plane but is by far the best handling- best ride at speed out of the three.

FYI The 1995 454 Mag is 350 pshp & I believe was only made for 1 year right before the went to MPI
I was told that the rpm range for that motor was 4600-4800.

As far as being the slowest boat in the run, I never was

Thanks Don. Thats good info to have. I hit 4400-4600 without too much problem, but i'm only getting to 4800 when I'm alone with 1/4 a tank of gas and trimmed to heaven. I wonder if I should give the 25 pitch hydro a shot?

So does anyone think this is repairable, or should i just buy a new prop?

Hey Century,I think you would be better off just replacing that prop, that SUCKS.Been there and done that. You should try some different props and see what works best for you,try Steves blade AKA Vicious22 and see what it does for you,as for the Rock Hall stop I am in because I will have my Comtec card.Who is going to Lloyds Creek this Saturday for Bobby Powells party with a live band and all the fixins, always a good time.

"So does anyone think this is repairable, or should i just buy a new prop?"

You may be able to get Hydromotive to replace the prop under warranty if it failed just from fatique and there's no signs of any impact damage else where on the prop. If it was thinned or previously repaired by someone else the warranty is voided. I threw a blade once and they warranted it. They may ask for a receipt - I told them the boat came with it from the factory and I was the original buyer (which was true). It's worth a shot but it'll take about 10 days to get your replacement prop.

We're currently at about dozen boats for Velocity Fest.
