Default In hull transducer mount

OK guys, I might have found where the factory installed the transducer in my hull. Mine is currently mounted on the transom because the marina I bought the boat from couldn't get it to read through the hull. The spot I found is pretty much right under the starter. I'll post up a pic of it. Should I try to grind it out some, or just glue it in and see if it works?

This is on a 280, and it is a Hawk Eye depth sounder.

Thanks,
Frank

Because it is a cored hull, you have to use a hole saw and cut through the coring. Then the epoxy the hole and insert the transducer.

Scary isn't it?

That's what I'm wondering. Does that spot look like it was done before? I think I'll have to try to grind out in that circle and see what's going on.

Does anyone with a 280 built around 98 have a factory mounted transducer that can verify the location?

Thanks

Mine is a 98. Factory had me install it just about center-line and almost to the front of the engine. Give them a call and someone will walk you through it. Boat is in storage or Iwould e mail you a couple of pics. I can't check yours as I am not a paid member.

hmmm, I'm not sure I should devulge the top secret engine build. I am adding A/C though. That should offset any gains made by the extra hp from the AFR's, cam, intake, ect.

Don't worry vicious you will be ok if I am part of the pack. I should be well behind you guys.

Frank, I would have made a good excuse for pulling the motor!! Good luck with the motor build.
