280 Hatch Bracket
Bought my 2000 280 and the guy said the marina lost the pin for the hatch bracket. Not sure if it is on right because the piston from the lift is hitting the fiberglass. I'm using a screwdriver in the picture but if I had the pin where the screwdriver goes the wire retainer would not reach the lower hole. Is the bolt in the right hole and should the bracket be turned around? Love the boat but not too happy about the hatch lift system.

You are on the right track, just swivel the bracket towards the front of the hatch and that is where it should rest. I believe it was designed like this so that if you should end up with dead batteries and the hatch closed, you can lift the hatch enough by hand to pull the pin. Unfortunately, when you swivel the bracket back up in its correct postion it does not lift the hatch very high. Hope this helps

From your picture it looks like your ram is mounted very close to the transom which is why it is only opening 12". I would re mount the ram and possibly the hatch bracket so you can get the hatch to really open up. My Velocity came with a little piece of crap lifting ram and only opened about a foot. I bought a new Hardin Marine unit with 24" of travel ,and re mounted everything. Now I can open it till its almost straight up.
