I just bought a 2001 Velocity 280 with 28 hours down in Florida. Has 502 MAG . The prop was off but is a 24..the guy told me Velocity says to run a 28. Any info? The boat looks almost new and was a bank repo. I really like the Velocity but it's completely new to me. Can Velocity owners or people with knowledge tell me what to expect form this boat as far as handling, power, top speed, ect?? Thanks Chris

Congrats and Welcome Chris.
My prop guess would be a 24" Hydromotive Q4 for the 502 Mag. A 26" Bravo 1 may also be a good candidate for rougher water. The best bet of course is to call the Velocity factory - they'll steer you to the right prop. Also ask about trim/tab settings. Padraig should be able to help with 280 handling tips as well.
The 280 is probably the best balanced hull (well maybe the VR1 is now) until you reach the 390. Good luck!

Stay with the 26 Bravo1. Velocity sells all boats with Hydromotive but they are hard to come off plane and the mid range sucks. The Hydromoyive is 1 mile per hour better on top end than the Bravo with both props being stock. The Bravo will bite coming out of the hole and will be 4-5 mph better in mid range than the Hydromotive. I had my bravo labbed and it was better on top end than the Hydromotive. Great looking boat!!

Linster, what boat/engine are you running that prop combo on. I've had a couple of 26" Hydro QIV's blueprinted with varied results on my 26' T'bred w/509. I'd be interested in trying a Bravo since 90% of my use is at cruise speeds. Thanks in advance,
John
