280 to a 410 and have questions
I listed my 280 for sale to buy a 410. I initially wanted a 390 because of the speed. I have come across a nice 410 that I'm going to try and work a deal on. My question is will I be happy with the performance and speed compared to a 390. Keep on mind I've never been in a big power boat. My 280 is the biggest I've been in. I have plans to build 600-650 hp motors for the 410. My current 280 is upper 90's boat all day. I'm assuming the 410 will be slower on calm water.
Basically trying to find out what I should expect going to a much larger boat besides being awesome looking from a side profile picture due to the length!!!!
Thanks in advance.

900 per side? That probably won't happen. It's got stock power now. I'm going to repower over the winter and kind of planning for 600-650. The boat will be under powered with that kind of power?

What kind of performance will I see with 6-650 a side? I was told the boat did 80 (GPS) with stock 500efi's. Is that not the case? I was hopping for upper 80's low 90's with 650's. sounds like I may be mistaken?
Thanks for the information.

80 is a real number with 500's , and I would think it should run close to 90 with some 650's . They handle big water great and turn excellent . As far as underpowered , the boat can handle all you can come up with . A lot more cabin in the 410 then the 390 , good choice IMO .

Thanks notda1. I would be happy with 90 mph (I think). I'm not expecting to be as fast as my current boat, but the size of the boat and the amenities would make it an awesome boat. Around here 90 would still be respectable. Would also allow me to make the bahama trip my wife and I have been wanting to make.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

I'm guessing that the 410 with 500 EFI's is a Bravo boat, keep in mind that you will want to upgrade the drives when bumping the power up. I'd love to move up to a 390 or 410- they do an awesome job of balancing comfort with Bad ASSSS!
