The use of tabs, even for the best behaved hulls, revolves about where you are going to run the boat and the associated sea conditions. Tabs give you extra adjustment to counter sea conditions - especially heading into seas or quartering seas (a valuable lesson learned from Arch260!). That's why the big Velocities set up for offshore came with tabs. If you run on smooth water mostly tabs aren't needed but when the seas get snotty - I've used tabs on all the Velocities I've owned. The Eddie Marine/Dana Marine Sport Tabs worked nicely on my 22 I/O.
