Hello old friend
I posted a few photos of my 1985 22 Velocity on the Velocity Facebook page. A gentleman introduces himself as the original owner and sends me photos of the day in November 19845 when he took delivery of the boat down in Pompano Beach FL. He and I have spoken and he's a very nice guy. He's going to help me in my quest to return the boat back to the way it looked when he took delivery. He told me that it was originally powered by a puny 260 HP Mercruiser that still ran 60 MPH in stock trim. He soon blew that engine and then built a 355 SBC with some go fast goodies and that combination ran 75 MPH. He sold the boat to the brother of the guy I bought the boat from in 1995. The guy I bought the boat from bought the boat in 2002 and I took possession on May 12 2022 so this boat has had 4 owners it's entire life. The original owner told me that if I decided to sell the boat. He would like to have it back. I promised him that he would have first shot st it when and if I ever decided to part with it.

Donnie,
That's a great story. Pretty amazing that no one swapped out the lifting rings for cleats before you! It looks like it originally had two color paint like mine did. I like the original engine cover vinyl (mine was recovered with lengthwise pleats and a V) with the piping and a colored triangle to match the seats. Really clean interior design!
When do expect your new Mirage Plus?

It still has the lifting rings. I've considered changing them out to cleats, but now I'm not sure if I will. The prop is supposed to be here today, I'll try it out this weekend and see how it works out. I'm thinking I'll pick up a 23 pitch as well for when the kids want to tube or ski.
