YUP. It looks like a homos boat with those graphics
My friends are making fun of me. I have a vinal guy comming down to figure out how to remove everything. 78??? What am I doing wrong. The tabs dont work but I think that shouldnt loose 11+mph off the top end. What else can you tell me about the boat. I got an incomplete 6:71 gm blower I might put on it after I tear the motor down for a rebuild. If its not worth the effort Ill buy a new one. I paid 25k for the boat. I think I stole it. I think the graphics kept it from selling. What rpm should this engine turn 5000-5200???? Do you know the choice drive for this boat after I hot rod the engine. Going for 650-700hp at the prop

Sorry I didnt get back to you sooner, but I've been busy. First I would verify that the GPS is accurate, you need to be turning 5200 rpms, make sure that the tabs aren't down, make sure the prop is okay it should be a 25 or 26 inch pitch, I know the previous owner had 2 props. I can remember him saying that last few times out with the boat that he was only getting 73 or 74 on GPS so I would suspect that possibly the motor is getting tired unless he has the cutler fuel injection screwed up. Also check your fuel filter and make sure it is not clogged up. As for the tabs, if you are going to fly the boat like you did the 22 you better get a set of mercury tabs 28" as for the blower you are going to have alot of trouble getting pully's and other parts to mount up so just buy a new blower set up from somebody, I would recommend the blower shop, as for the drive I would go with am Imco not a shorty because the x dimension should be high enough with the stepped transom. Steve keeps the x dimensions pretty high. The boat should be pretty easy to drive since you have driven velocitys before, a little chine walk when the boat gets up on the pad just drive thru it. Let me know how you make out.

The prop is a 26 Hydromotive 4 blade
I think the hub is spun unless it is solid?? The blades on the prop look prety small. IM going to a prop shop tomorrow with it inorder to have it looked at. It seems to run well, 5200 seems to be where it tops off when in the right trim posission. I gave up on the blower. IM not gonna hot rod it until the winter or next. IM debating blower or cubes. I want to work with the prop first. The gps is on the money and the spedo is only about a mile or two over it. Thanks Ill keep in touch.

Ptibull, for your prop work and any questions, call Mike @ Hall Propeller. He occasionally races a velocity and has done a lot of work on props for Velocity. Good knowledgeable prop guy.

A friend of mine had a 26, so I asked him about the performance. Here is what he had to say:
I had a (30 over) 454 (461 ci) making 575 @ 6300 rpm (see chart).
Propped to 5800 it made ~ 540 hp. The best I ever saw on GPS was 84 mph
(400 lbs of people, 70 lbs of gas). It would run 78 mph all day loaded
with fuel and people (1200+ lbs of people, gear and fuel). 80 - 82 all
day with just me and 1/2 tank. Propped with a lab finished and Hall
tweaked Bravo 1 @ 14.8" X 26.
The HP500 or similar HP 502's will be able to throw the 28" prop and get
a little more top end due to their better torque numbers down low. It's
not as simple as comparing HP numbers to come up with a top speed.
