Components for Mark IV 454:
Heads - Since my 049s will require a lot of money to get them up to where I want them, I've decided to research other options. Looking for rectangular or oval ports with combustion chambers around 110-114cc, 1.88/2.19(2.25) stainless/inconel valves with hardened seats, and valve springs that can handle up to .600" lift. Recent refresh and three-angle valve job would be ideal; 1.7 roller rockers a plus. Run saltwater through the block, so if I were to go aluminum, they'd need to have passages that are marine spec. Pretty much the deciding piece of my build and, as such, I'm open to anything that fits the above criteria.
Intake - Looking for a dual-plane, aluminum manifold with brass-lined water passages. Rectangular or oval ports will depend on the heads. I'd like to stick with my Qjet, but the ability to accept either square- or spread-bore would be great.
Oil Pan - Put on a Melling high volume pump and, rather than worry about the capacity of my 7-qt aluminum pan, would like to upgrade to something larger: 8-10 quart capacity Mark IV pan with 8" depth would be fantastic to work with my pickup.
Bottom end was last year, hoping I can find a few deals on OSO to do the top end this year. Appreciate the help.

I've got a set of 088 heads that are in excellent shape. They have a total of 26 hours on them. These are standard issue merc heads. I'm keeping the springs for my new engine so they would be either heads and valves or with retainers and locks (isky). The 088's will work fine on a Mark IV block as that is what I had them on. I also have a set of 188's (Mark IV heads) they are completely rebuilt, also with 26 hours on them. The 188's have some corrosion around the water jackets, where as the 088's are like new.
If this is something you are interested in let me know and lets work out a deal.

Thanks for the offers, guys.

Interested in your Mag intake. Have a few leads on rectangular port heads already, but don't want to get ahead of myself with rectangular intake just yet. If I go that route, I might contact you later for pics and an offer.

Interested in your 8 qt aluminum pan. Pan depth? Would it be possible to send a couple pictures to above address/number, or post?
Could you tell me more about these heads off of the 365 Mag? I believe I'm looking at rectangular ports with 2.19/1.88 valves. Has any work/freshening been done to them?
Black Baja -
Appreciate the offer, but I think a 14 qt pan might be overkill for my application, and might challenge me spatially.

I'm looking for a finished product, if you will, which makes your 188s appealing to me. I've seen your prior threads regarding these heads, so I'm sort of in the know. Did you bump up to 2.25 intakes with the recent work or are they still 2.19? Combustion chamber size is about 116cc, or have they been milled to something else? Do you still have roller rockers to go with them?
Appreciate any further info/responses.

The heads are bone stock. The valves are 2.19- I wouldn't waste $1 making the intake valves any bigger. If was a 502, then sure but on a 454 it's not going to help at all.. Tony Mamo from AFR did a lot of testing on the 265 and 290 heads which are designed for the 4.25 bore and the 2.19 valves made more power. The only engine merc used these heads on, that got the 2.25 valve was the hp 500, thats it. I'm not including the rockers as I'm reusing them. On my current engines I did a 1.8/1.7 split. On this build I'm pretty sure that I'm going to go with all 1.7's. So if your interested in some 1.8s then I have some crane golds. Combuston chambers are stock size, the heads have never been touched.
When looking at old heads, remember a valve job alone is going to run $300.00 plus anything else that needs to be done.

2.19 intakes are what I'm looking for. I don't want to get needlessly carried away with anything larger and waste a few hundred bucks in the process.
When you say bone stock, you're referring to the fact that the 188s haven't been machined? These heads are the ones you posted a couple weeks ago (with new valves, springs, etc.)?

I have a set of 188's and 088's. the 088 are in better shape. They are basically new. The 188 have some corrosion around the water jackets, still 100% useable, but again the 088's are perfect.
Here is the scoop on both sets.
088
26 total hours
Stock merc valves
ARP Rocker Studs
Isky 8005 SP springs
Isky retainers
Isky locks
188
New Valve seats
Valve job
Valves machined
New Valve Guides
Same springs, retainers and locks.
I would perfer to keep the springs, as they have no hours on them and I was planing on using them on my current heads. But if you really want them, I'll let them go.
