^^^^it looks like i will be doing his other engine soon,i took it out of his boat and it is in the shop.i bought a new gm gen 6 block from chevrolet performance,it came in a nice wooden crate.gm would not ship it directly to me,had to go through one of their dealers.it came from a chevy dealer in michigan.1840 bucks,no tax and free shipping.cylinder bores, lifter bores and main housing bores were right on size, cam bearings were installed.only issue i had with it was they did not do a very good job of deburring it.also no block or freeze plugs.it has a provision for a mechanical fuel pump and is a nice block.he would probibally sell his old block for cheep but i am not getting involved with that, the water jackets are pretty rotted from salt water.it is gen 6.edit in,paid with credit card and block was at my place in about a week.

Do you have the part# for that block Mike? Why did you choose it over an aftermarket block for the same money? Just because you wanted a gen6? What was the bore size?

WWW.Summitracing.com has new GM Gen 6 blocks for $1887, free shipping. Some aftermarket blocks, although beefier, may require more work to get them ready to use.

joe, part number is 19170540.new 2017 price is 1877.55 through gm,no tax and free shipping.when i called summit on this they said 111 bucks to ship it even though their website said free shipping.it is cheeper than a gen 6 dart block,it is final machined and only needed to be deburred and washed before assembly.if you buy a dart block you have about 500 bucks worth of machine work before it is ready for assembly.i have all the information in the shop but if i remember correctly final bore size was 4.466.the used pistons from the old block measured out at 4.460,that is .006 piston to wall clearance, perfect for a marine engine with the origional j&e piston.edit in,it is a really nice block, even has provision for a mechanical fuel pump.
